Why I love ClickUp

I like to talk #plannerpeace – and especially digital productivity. A huge part of that topic in my world is related to one app … and in this post I would like to share with you why I love ClickUp so much.

Let me begin by saying that I have tried and used almost every productivity app out there… Omnifocus, Trello, Asana, Todoist, Wonderlist, Monday, Evernote and Notion to name a few.

I used to really love Asana…

In late 2018 I was heavily relying on Asana. I had my whole life and business set up in there. I was paying (in my opinion) a lot of money for premium features but it bugged me that I had to pay for five seats even though I didn’t need all of them. Then they introduced the timeline feature – which sounded great – but to get access I would have to upgrade to an even more expensive plan. I wasn’t happy about that… So when I read a post in the Asana Community Forum about this new system that sounded promising – ClickUp – I signed up immediately.

Since then I honestly haven’t looked back. Sure, it has sometimes been a bumpy ride during development, but the customer support is truly excellent and the team is seriously devoted to building a world class system.

A great number of views

I remember that one of the first things I was impressed about was how I easily could switch between list view and board view. In Trello I was limited to board view and in Asana I had to decide in advance if my project was going to be a list or board view. Actually, in ClickUp you have soooo many different views;

  • List
  • Board
  • Box
  • Calendar
  • Gantt
  • Activity
  • Mind Maps
  • Timeline
  • Workload
  • Table
  • Map

and more are added regularly… I like to filter my views with either statuses or custom fields when I look at my project in board view. And when I look at it in list view I most often filter by due date. Then I love using the timeline view to get the big picture of my project. All of this with just one project, depending on how I feel like seeing it at the moment.

I like things that are flexible and let me set up my own structure.

I also love how I can have multiple assignees to one task. I love the new automations where I no longer need to remember to manually assign a task to myself or set it to urgent or anything else that I before had to remember. I love the structure with spaces, folders, lists and tasks, I love the dashboards and goal setting functions… I like that you only pay for the number of seats you need…

Welcome to the blog

A warm welcome to this new blog! I would like to start by introducing myself. I’m Maria, a digital entrepreneur and planner nerd who loves helping other business owners taking advantage of technology so that they can work smarter without hustle and burnout.

Meet the planner nerd

I don’t know about you… but I have tried my fair share of planners and systems over the years in a constant search for the perfect one… I have loved planning for as long as I can remember and when I was on parental leave six years ago that interest grew into an Instagram account (it used to be @lovethatplanner but I have since then renamed it). I joined Facebook groups, bought inserts on Etsy, made my own inserts (of course!) and I kept a bullet journal – it was such a fun and creative hobby. ⁠

Then I started my own business and things got hectic… With small kids and lots of customer deadlines I instead dived into the big sea of productivity apps. It was quite messy to find a system where I could combine the apps with my need to write things down by hand.

Finding #plannerpeace

When I bought an Ipad with an Apple Pencil everything fell into place. I now combine my apps with my own digital planner – and finally I have found #plannerpeace. And that’s also why I started this blog – I want to talk about this new world of digital planners in combination with productivity apps that now makes my life so much easier. And so much more fun!

This is me

  • I live just outside of Stockholm, Sweden, with my husband, two kids and two cats. When I’m not busy building my business I love taking walks in the forest, doing yoga and binge watching Netflix series with my hubby.
  • I’m an accountant and I’ve been running a traditional accounting firm for three years. But in the light of the pandemic I honed in on what’s really important in my life and decided to close down the firm to focus on my online business.
  • I love everything tech and especially around productivity. I have actually been preaching digital entrepreneurship and remote team work for deaf ears for years… Until everyone had to start working remote in 2020 whether they liked it or not.
